When I was younger I used to cover my walls with torn out editorial photo shoots from W magazine. I loved the over-sized pages and the perfectly glossy and matte finish that each page held. To me, they were- and still are- art. I used to think how crazy it was that I could buy a magazine at the grocery store and frame the images, hang it on my wall and these beautiful works of art only cost me the $6 that I spent on the magazine. Each editorial inspired me to be more creative and to strive to something much bigger than my current surroundings. It sounds a little crazy, right? But is that not the whole point of art? To inspire you to a new way of thinking? The same goes for an exceptional editorial spread. They aren’t just pictures in a magazine or catalog, they are images that take you to another place; they show you a world that you don’t know or show you a perspective that you’ve never even dreamt of before.
I am going to start sharing one editorial here a week, just the ones that are remarkable, because I think it’s important to learn more about the photographers and the models that are really creating works of art in the fashion world. Like, for example, the beautiful Indian model Pallavi Singh, as photographed by Arjun Mark for Elle India. The stunning dresses laced in gold and perfectly accessorized, the extraordinary makeup and the beautiful hair–these images will take your breath away AND make you want to have an Indian wedding. Seriously.
