I have asked one of my dearest and most brilliant friends, Angela Allen, to do a guest post for me today. She has, by far, the most impressive eye for decor, interiors, fashion and overall chicness of anyone that I’ve met. All things I feel like I lack in life, Angela has an abundance of. She lives in Nashville with her musician husband, runs my favorite etsy shop and has the most perfect home I’ve ever stayed in. Trust me when I say, I’m soaking up her list below and you should as well.
My home is one of the most important places in my world. It’s as important as the work I do and the clothes I wear. Home is where I create, rest, dream and plan. I could spend hours dreaming of ways to create the perfect place to live.
Creating an incredibly personal atmosphere at home is less about expensive furniture and more about the right essentials. It’s an art form that anyone can master. Here are a few of my favorite necessities:
I love art. Single and oversized or galleries of smaller pieces, I love it all. I especially love art hung in unusual places. I’m crazy about pieces in the kitchen and bathroom that have absolutely nothing to do with cooking, eating or bathing. They are completely random and unexpected.
Cocktail and Coffee Bars
Bar carts, side tables, countertops or large trays each make for perfect surface options that can serve as sleek beverage service areas for serving cocktails in the evening and coffee in the morning. They silently welcome guests to help themselves.
Ceramic, wooden or silver, I cannot get enough trays! I love big ones and little ones, modern and vintage. Trays corral items that belong together and create a defined, polished area for them.
Collections of any kind displayed beautifully in a room tell a personal story. The repetition of like items adds a powerful impact to a space and provides a window into who you are and what you love.
Vinyl Records & Record Players
The crackle of vinyl on a record player instantly infuses a space with a certain richness and sets the perfect tone for any living space. A collection of vinyl records impresses anyone with a taste for great music, and adds that extra certain something to a living space.
